Anth Ornsby ‘a completely different fighter’ under coach Glenn McCrory as he seeks third win

Feeling the best he’s ever felt.

You hear it every time from a boxer don’t you? But in the case of Anth Ornsby it is definitely true.

The Wallsend boxer resumes his career on Friday, December 13 with a four rounder at Houghton against popular Northern Ireland fighter, Alec Bazza.

Ornsby is having his second bout under trainer Glenn McCrory following an exciting out with Danny Little at the Stadium of Light in July.

“I feel so sharp,” Ornsby told punch-lines. “Glenn is a man who is straight to the point , if I was performing badly he would tell me.

“I am a completely different fighter to when I first went professional.

“I’m fitter than ever and I am lighter than ever.

“Training has gone great with Glenn at O’Tooles.

“He’s pushed me hard and we are getting the rewards.

“It’s class to hear that he can see me improving.”

The O’Tooles-trained fighter insists there will be a better Anth Ornsby at the Rainton Meadows Arena than the one who won a very competitive affair with Little at the Summer Rumble.

“I fell for the bait a bit at the Stadium of Light,” he admitted. “He let me punch away and I got a little bit excited.

“This time you will see a better version of me.

“In the last fight I rushed everything, but I will be calmer here.

“Sparring has gone class against some good kids, I’ve done good.

“Glenn says I am 100 times better than I was at the start and that gives me so much confidence.”

Ornsby has shed a lot of ‘timber’ and says there is more to come as he targets a campaign at 140 pounds.

“I’m planning to go down to 10 stones. I was 10-7 a few weeks back, then I’ll be fighting at 10-4.

“There is still more to lose, I’ll get shredded and then do some damage at 10 stone I hope.”

Ornsby v Bazza is part of a packed bill at the show promoted by Phil Jeffries and Steve Wraith, an event headlined by the Northern Area title battle between Ellis Corrie and Tom Hill. There is also an appearance from the unbeaten flyweight prospect, Joe Maphosa.

Tickets remain on sale and are available from the boxers.
