Tear Up on the Tyne boxers have a lot to live up to

A lot to live up to. That is the next batch of fighters to take to the ring at the Lancastrian Suite.

The dust has barely had time to settle at Dunston before the venue is used again for the second Steve Wraith/ Phil Jeffries promotion this month.

After the success of Saturday’s jam-packed eight-bout bill on the banks of the Tyne, there is another hot on its heels on Saturday, September 29.

Tear Up on the Tyne will have a distinct Teesside feel to it.

The locals will have Wallsend amateur Anth Ornsby’s debut to look forward to but the rest of the show features boxers from Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Darlington and Trimdon.

Punch-lines will work through the cast list alphabetically.

Luke Cope will be climbing through the ropes for the second occasion.

The Hartlepool 21-year-old is the fourth and final Cope to enter the pro arena (for now!) and he made a very accomplished debut in Darlington in May, when he outpointed Naheem Chaudry.

John Green will be taping up the gloves for the first time in three years.

The Middlesbrough boxer, based out of the DBMA HQ in Darlington, has not been seen since he best win of his career, a Northern Area title triumph against Luke’s big brother, Peter, at the 2015 Summer Rumble.

There is a second debut at the Lancastrian Suite as Reece McAllister makes a long-awaited bow using just his two fists.

The Newton Aycliffe fighting machine earned great popularity when representing Phoenix Thai Boxing in Shildon and is now training under Pete Shepperson in Darlington.

Terry Tyers is the second boxer from Imran Naeem’s Natural Progression Boxing Academy on the event.

‘Turbo’, from Trimdon, has won all three of his appearances, the most recent at Summer Rumble 10 being the best after an exciting final-round stoppage of Zygimantas Butkevicius.

On the subject of excitement, Mohammed Waqas will also be looking to carry on from where he left off against Patrik Bartos last time out.

The 26-year-old, from Middlesbrough, made a triumphant return after five years out when he floored Patrik Bartos twice en route to a comprehensive points win at Houghton.

Terence Wilkinson completes the line-up.

The unbeaten Wallsend boxer, a Forest Hall team-mate of Lewis Ritson no less, has chalked up two wins since joining ‘The Sandman’ in the paid ranks.
