In-form Newcastle fighter Lawrence Osueke added to Summer Rumble

In-form Lawrence Osueke has been added to the Summer Rumble 8 cast.

The unbeaten Newcastle prospect is a busy fella, having just appeared on the massive Matchroom event at the Metro Radio Arena on Saturday, when he extended his winning run to three fights.

Now, he has been given a spot on the bumper Sunday afternoon show at the Stadium of Light on July 1.

It is good news, not only for Osueke, but for boxing fans who will get the opportunity to watch this gifted light-heavyweight.

Those who were in their seats early on Saturday would have watched the former Team GB boxer torture the line out of Remigijus Ziausys for the entire 12 minutes of their bout (pictured above).

The experienced Lithuanian could not get near the Geordie who looked as if he could stop his opponent at any given point of the contest.

It followed on nicely from Osueke’s win over another Baltic boxer with a great name for Scrabble, Jevgenijs Andrejev, at South Shields in April.

Steve Wraith, who staged that show at Temple Park and co-promotes the Summer Rumble, is thrilled to see the athletic figure of the North Shields fighter on at Sunderland AFC’s stadium.

“I’m delighted to have Lawrence on the Rumble,” said the Newcastle fight figure.

“He has been on my last two shows and I managed to get him on the Metro Radio Arena bill.

“Lawrence has put on some good performances and he is learning all the time.”

Osueke, who is under the guidance of former British top 10 heavyweight Manny Burgo, trains in Oliver Harrison’s gym in Salford under Oliver and Jamie Moore.

He started his professional career by outpointing veteran Czech KO specialist Jindrich Velecky in Preston.

Osueke is part of a nine-bout show at the Stadium of Light, starring Darren Surtees and featuring Chrissy Atkinson, Joe and Tom Hill, Joe Laws, Kris Pilkington, Terry Tyers and Terry Wilkinson.
