What a fighter! Katie Taylor will go four glory and win ALL the world belts

When you’ve won pretty much everything there is to win what do you do next?

In the case of Katie Taylor it is go and win more!

The sporting queen of Ireland has just doubled her tally of world belts after defeating Victoria Noelia Bustos to become the International Boxing Federation’s lightweight title.

Her convincing 10-round points triumph in New York on her USA debut added to the World Boxing Association crown won in Cardiff last October.

“I’m thrilled to unify the titles,” said Taylor. “It’s a dream come true.”

Inside two years, this incredible fighter from Bray, just south of Dublin, has won nine times as a professional, three of those bouts being world title contests.

This is the lady who won FIVE amateur world championships, not to mention her 2012 Olympic gold medal.

And her appetite for winning remains stronger than ever.

“I’m there to fight anyone, any of the champions,” she said on Sky Sports after her success at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

“I want all the belts by the end of this year for sure.

“I have said it before, I am so lucky to have so many great champions in my division. There are some great fights out there to be made.”

Taylor controlled matters pretty much throughout though Bustos deserves a medal the size of a bin lid for her brave effort, refusing to buckle.

In fact, the Argentinian picked up a couple of rounds from one judge though Katie ended up winning by some margin 99-91 (twice) and 98-92.

“It was a great fight and she was a brave opponent,” said Taylor.
