Savannah Marshall is back and back with a home appearance.
The Hartlepool fight hero will box for the second time as a pro in Bolton on Saturday, May 12, when she will face unbeaten Finland middleweight Sanna Turunen.
Marshall’s first UK fight as a pro will feature on the undercard of the heavyweight battle of Britain between Sam Sexton and Hughie Fury at the Macron Stadium.
It will be shown live on free-to-air TV on Channel 5.
Marshall has not fought on home soil since November 2015 when she beat Natasha Gale to be crowned GB champion in Sheffield.
“I feel so excited to back in the ring and especially back home in the UK where my family and fans can get to see me in action,” said the 26-year-old who made a winning debut in Las Vegas last August.
“Making my pro-debut on the Floyd Mayweather versus Conor McGregor card was absolutely incredible and an experience I will never ever forget.
“It doesn’t get any bigger than that and it has given me some great career experience for my future,
“This is my first fight here since the GB Championships when I was an amateur and now I’m on a massive British heavyweight title show that’s live on terrestrial TV on Channel 5,”
It’s apt the 2012 world champion is in action at the Wanderers stadium.
The former Headland ABC star has been training with Hughie at the Team Fury HQ where she is being coached by Hughie’s dad, Peter.
“Training with Peter and Hughie has been tremendous,” said Savannah.
“Peter trained me for my pro-debut and he does everything with me from boxing to strength training to nutrition.
“It’s a hard training regime, but I love it and wouldn’t want it any other way to reach the top of my sport.”
