Luke Cope turns professional with Frank Warren and Imran Naeem

A fourth member of the fighting Cope family has joined the professional boxing ranks.
Luke Cope has followed in the ring steps of Peter, Daniel and Adam who have all gone pro in the last seven years.
The gifted Hartlepool boxer will be trained by much-vaunted Stockton coach, Imran Naeem, and will come under the Warren umbrella.

Luke boxed superbly on the amateur scene for Gus Robinson Developments ABC including winning the English lightweight title with an impressive win on the road, defeating Danny Quartermaine in his own back yard in Leamington Spa, plus a couple of successful defences.

Now, the 20-year-old has put the vests away and turned over, much to the delight of Imran.
“It’s no secret that I’ve been a big admirer of his as a junior and senior amateur boxer,” said the coach who has the Leather brothers, Josh and Kalam, and Joe Maphosa in his growing stable.
“After working with him these over the last couple of months I truly believe that he has the combined talent and work ethic to go far in the paid ranks.
“I’m delighted this opportunity has come around for us both.
“I’ve often been around the shows throughout the North East and on my travels I’ve watched not only Luke but several of his brothers compete, led by his brother Peter, a boxing family with true love and passion for the sport.”
Naeem has taken Luke to Hertford to the home of the Warren boxing empire, meeting Frank and his son Francis.
“Having spoken to both Frank and Francis Warren they were very impressed with Luke, not only as a boxer but as a person and that reflected in their decision to sign him to a pro contract,” Imran added.
“We’re looking to get Luke boxing very soon so look out for his debut date in the coming weeks.”
Luke’s eldest boxing sibling, Peter, is already in the Naeem camp following his departure from Neil Fannan’s Hartlepool set-up.
The Copes have built a combined record of 22 wins (including Northern Area title successes for Peter and Daniel) with just seven defeats.
