Tenacity boxers Ben Marksby, Travis Waters, Adam Reichard, Beau Smith prepare for first fights of ’24

Tenacity are preparing to send their unbeaten team of fighters into action in the coming weeks.

Ben Marksby, Travis Waters, Adam Reichard and Beau Smith, who boast a combined record of 18-0, are all in full training.

Waters is the first out from Tenacity, a fast-emerging force which is split between the Headland gym in Hartlepool and Wearmouth ABC in Sunderland.

The 27-year-old is to fight in Bolton on a VIP Boxing show on Saturday, March 2, when he will be looking to carry on his terrific run of form.

In his 15 months as a professional, the ex-Sunderland ABC southpaw has won all five paid appearances, three coming inside the distance.

Last time out in December in his home city, Waters (pictured) stopped the very tough London-based Ukrainian Mykhailo Sovtus in the fourth round.

Some punishing combinations were the highlight of his performance and the fact that was his third success inside the distance has not gone unnoticed as coach John Stubbs explained.

“No-one is interested in fighting him,” he said. “His reputation is starting to grow.

“It is what it is unfortunately.

“With Travis not being the youngest he’s getting pushed along a bit quicker than the others.

“He can box, fight and punch and can go through the levels quickly.

“We’d like to have him fighting for a title by the end of this year.”

At the time of writing, as Stubbs alluded to, there is no opponent yet for the southpaw at the Whites Hotel.

The Wearside trio of Waters, Reichard and Smith are not long back from a training camp in Tenerife.

Their warm weather training was great for conditioning and they are now sharpening up with Stubbs and fellow coach Anth Kelly.

Reichard and Smith will be boxing at a very famous venue on March 9, when they have four-rounders at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

Seaburn 23-year-old Reichard, with three straight wins to his name, is scheduled to tackle Michael Mooney.

“This should be Adam’s last four-rounder,” added Stubbs of the ex-Wearmouth ABC boxer.

“He had a hand issue in his last bout but that proved a good learning curve for him and he dealt with it well.”

Smith is the youngest of the group at 20 and began his pro career impressively back in September at Houghton, where the former Wearmouth ABC boxer showed a liking for body work when outpointing Rochdale’s Richard Helm.

“Beau is perhaps too eager to go for a fight,” said Stubbs.  “But he boxed as we wanted him to and he looked good.”

In Blackpool, Smith is lined up to fight one of the daddies of the journeymen bracket, Fonz Alexander.

Marksby is the only one of the undefeated quartet without a date as yet, but Kelly and Stubbs are hoping to get him an eight-rounder.

The Darlington 24-year-old chalked up his ninth win in December at the Beacon of Light, where he defeated Kurt Jackson in a lively six-round battle between two unbeaten prospects.

“Ben looked good, he was up against a decent lad,” said Stubbs. “Hopefully, we’ll get an opponent and date soon.

“We’ll be looking for a good win and then to push on.”
