Ambitious Adam Hepple is ready to go into battle from another away corner.
The Northern Area super-middle weight champion is to fight Lancashire’s Reece Farnhill in an English title eliminator in Oldham on Saturday, March 9.
It is a huge opportunity for the Seaham star to fight his way into the big league.
The fight at Oldham Leisure Centre is a confrontation between two Area champs with Farnhill the owner of the Central belt, having outpointed Sheffield’s Nicolie Campbell at the same venue in November.
Farnhill, from Citheroe, has won all nine of his professional bouts, with three coming inside the distance, while Hepple has a 4-0 record., with one win early.
That came in dramatic fashion last July when he brutally stopped Matt McCallum at Rainton Arena inside the first four minutes of the champion’s maiden defence.
It means there will be no fear when he goes to Oldham to tackle the unbeaten Lancashire lad according to coach Jordan Williams (pictured right).
“It’s exciting,” said the trainer who runs the Twins Academy in Trimdon, where Hepple is based.
“We’ll be in the away corner, but it didn’t bother us last time and it’s not going to bother us now.
“Adam was confident the last time and he’ll be confident this time too.
“It’s all about getting the preparations right.
“We’ll both know that when we are sat in the dressing room 10 minutes before going into the arena we’ve done everything we possibly can.”
Born in Sunderland, Hepple is proud to be from Seaham, and that pride will be driving him towards a shot at the English belt if he can get the better of Farnhill.
Another of the Twins boxing stable, Kai Richmond will be in action on March 16 at Rainton Arena, where he challenges for the vacant Northern Area lightweight title in a South Durham derby against Bishop Auckland’s undefeated prospect Nathan Forrest.
Kai’s team-mate, unbeaten Horden fighter Ali Shah will fight on the same Jobes Boxing event.
Then the Twins attention will turn to Bologna on April 5, when new signing Jordan Barker Porter will challenge for the vacant European Silver lightweight belt.
Just like Hepple in Lancashire, the 30-year-old is also in her rival’s backyard as she takes on unbeaten Italian Pamela Noutchco Sawa.
