NOT one but two hard-to-call derbies.
That is the headline news for the first-ever Jobes Boxing show.
Gateshead’s Hilton Hotel is the scene for the exciting-looking event which is being staged by the fast-developing Newcastle outfit, in association with Phil Jeffries in a wonderful association between Tyne and Wear.
Matty Jobes promotes a five-bout card topped by a fascinating clash at cruiserweight between unbeaten Hetton boxer, Adam Gair, and adopted Tynesider Jone TK Volau.
Gair, chasing his sixth straight triumph, will be boxing out of the WBA gym of Nik Gittus for the first time, and meets a man also on five wins, the heavyweight turned cruiser of Paul Charters.
The clash between the North-East neighbours received further edge when Wednesday’s weigh-in proved a prickly affair. It will be decided tonight.

The second derby looks just as spicy.
Matt ‘Stark’ McCallum is one of three Jobes Boxing fighters on the show as he looks to double his win tally following a successful debut in February 2020.
However, the Newcastle prospect has an exciting challenge in the shape of Horden’s Greg O’Neil, with ‘Real Deal’ boasting a 6-5 record.
Matt will be followed into the ring by team-mate Enrico Samba, one of two debutants.
Born in Italy but now a proud Geordie, the former Wallsend ABC amateur and one-time rugby player, he tackles Ben McGirvern, a Scot who has won both of his pro contests.
Sam Wallace is also making his paid debut after a good career in the amateurs with Grainger Park ABC.
Punch-lines was excited that the 27-year-old also had a derby when we saw Waqas Mohammed listed as his opponent.
But this is Waqas Mohammed (2-6-1) rather than Teessider Mohammed Waqas. It should still be good!
Opening the show will be an intriguing contest featuring another Sam, Sam Menzies.
The South Shields star (pictured), with three wins under his pro belt, takes on Steven Maguire, the Middleton boxer who has fought Joe Maphosa twice on Tyneside and boasts a recent ‘W’ on the road on a Fightzone promotion in Sheffield.
