Savannah Marshall is “thrilled to be part” of the second instalment of Fight Camp where she will make the second defence of her WBO world middleweight title.
The unbeaten Hartlepool star has been given a starring role on August 14, week three of the series which all takes place in the back garden of the wonderful Matchroom HQ in Brentwood in Essex.
Fight Camp will be the first UK show screened by Matchroom Boxing’s new broadcast partner DAZN, with fans able to sign up now for the streaming service for an initial monthly price of just £1.99 in the UK and €1.99 in Ireland.
Promoter Eddie Hearn unveiled his mouth-watering line-up today with Marshall performing on the same Saturday as her old GB team-mate, Joshua Buatsi, who defends his WBA International light-heavyweight belt against the winner of the MTK Global Golden Contract winner, Richard Bolotniks.
Another old GB colleague and friend, Natasha Jonas, will also be in action.
No opponent has been announced but Hearn confirmed it will be Marshall’s second defence of her world crown.
“I’m thrilled to be part of this summer’s Fight Camp,” Marshall told punch-lines.
“I think fight fans would say it was some of the best nights of boxing in 2020 so to be involved in the 2021 series is something I can’t wait for.
“I’ve heard some fans will be allowed in to Fight Camp so that will make for a great atmosphere and it’s great to be on the same show as Joshua and Tasha.
“It’s just nice to be back out again fairly quickly after boxing at the Copper Box in April so I’m looking to put on another good performance.”
Both of Marshall’s world title contests have been behind closed doors.
The ‘Silent Assassin’ won the vacant WBO middleweight belt with a seventh-round stoppage of tough Scot Hannah Rankin at Wembley back on Halloween night last year.
And the Peter Fury-trained middleweight sensation then clinically took out late substitute, Maria Lindberg, inside three rounds in her maiden defence at the Copperbox Arena two months ago.
That was Savannah’s 10th straight win as a pro, eight of those victories coming inside the distance.
Fight Camp opens on Saturday, July 31, when unbeaten welterweight Conor Benn puts his 100 per cent record and his WBA continental belt on the line against Mexico’s Adrian Grandos, while Tommy McCarthy and Chris Billam-Smith collide for the British, Commonwealth and European cruiserweight titles.
Sheffield’s Kid Galahad and Liverpool’s Jazza Dickens meet in an all-British clash for the vacant IBF featherweight world title on week two on Saturday August 7, a show which also features Alen ‘The Savage’ Babic, who boxed in Newcastle at the weekend.
