Knives Down Gloves up. It’s a phrase which has joined the English vocabulary in 2019.
And now a top boxing photographer and some of our most exciting fighters have captured that vital message and are taking it into 2020.
Jennifer Charlton has produced a Knives Down Gloves up calendar with proceeds going to the organisation which is tackling the terrible epidemic by getting young people off the streets and into the boxing gyms.
The Scottish-based photographer, a familiar sight at ringside at North-East, Scotland and London events, as well as the motor-cycling circuits of the UK, has persuaded any number of boxers to be snapped for this good cause.
Recently crowned World light-welterweight champion and Muhammed Ali Trophy winner, Josh Taylor, is the star name to be pictured on the product.
So too are the two welterweights who produced one of the fights of the year – arch rivals Lewis Ritson and Robbie Davies Jnr.
Some of the North-East’s unbeaten stars had their arms twisted ever so gently to drop their guards and pose for Jennifer, such as the ‘Benwell Bomber’ Joe Laws, Alex Farrell, April Hunter, Darren Reay and Steven Robinson.
Scotland has a strong representation in Lee McGregor, Tommy Philbin, Kieran Smith and John Thain.
It’s a ‘must have’ for 2020, it’s only £15 (including postage) and it’s for an incredible cause.
Boxing clubs do an amazing job for the nation’s young people and their presence in our society is more vital than ever.
To back this cause you can buy the Knives Down Gloves up calendar by contacting Jennifer at jc.photography@outlook.com
