Hannah Robinson will be motivated by more than revenge when she attempts to retain her GB Championship crown.
The 25-year-old takes on Kirsty Hill in one of the many outstanding domestic confrontations in Sheffield on Thursday, December 5.
Robinson is not only looking to settle a score with the Cleethorpes boxer but to clinch a win to propel her towards the international arena next year.
It won’t be easy given Hill will not be short of belief or confidence following defeating Robinson in the England Championships in Nottingham in March.
But Hannah told punch-lines that Kirsty will be facing an “improved’ boxer this time at the English Institute for Sport.
“It will be a good fight,” predicted the gifted Co Durham lightweight, who is one of Birtley ABC’s huge contingent on the various national programmes.
“Kirsty is a defect boxer. We had a close fight at the ABAs, which could have gone either way, but she took it on a split decision.
“Since then I have improved – I have gone away and worked on a few things plus I know more about her now.
“It would be a nice way to finish the year on a high by coming back and getting the win and then look forward to 2020.
“I am looking to go full-time next year – at the moment I work part-time as a receptionist with the NHS on a Monday and Tuesday and do Wednesday to Saturday in Sheffield.
“I need more international experience, test myself against boxers from different countries.
“I have won the senior England championship, Tri-Nations and GB Championship, but now I want to move up to the next level and start winning medals internationally.”
Robinson is one of three Tyne, Tees & Wear boxers in action this coming Thursday. Wellington ABC’s Jade Pearce is the challenger to GB’s Raven Chapman at 57 kilos while East Durham’s Jim Tyers tackles Subaan Ahmed at 61 kilos.
