Ready to “get the show on the road”. So says Savannah Marshall as she prepares to fight for the first time for Matchroom and Sky Sports.
And what a show.
‘The Silent Assassin’ will box on the Luke Campbell-Vasiliy Lomachenko at The O2 on Saturday, August 31 on Sky Sports Box Office.
Britain’s second-ever amateur world champion will undertake an international eight-rounder on a star-studded line up which includes three more of her former Great Britain team-mates, Joshua Buatsi, Joe Cordina and Charlie Edwards.
Marshall this month agreed a promotional contract with Eddie Hearn and is excited to make an immediate start, along with her stablemate, Hughie Fury who meets Alexander Povetkin.
“I can’t wait,” the unbeaten 28-year-old told punch-lines.
“I feel great and have had a good few hard spars already.
“I am ready to go and I just want to get the show on the road.
“It’s a brilliant event to be making my Matchroom and Sky debut on, I’m really excited.”
Marshall is the unbeaten WBA inter-continental super-middleweight belt holder who is looking to become world champion at su[er-middle before moving down to middle and becoming the undisputed world champion.
She feels in a good place to go all the way in both divisions, under the coaching of Peter Fury and under the direction of Hearn, who has overseen the professional career of Katie Taylor.
The Hartlepool girl also has the wise counsel of her Headland ABC coach, Tim Coulter, to call upon too.
“I have the right team behind me in every aspect of my career,” said the former Commonwealth Games gold medalist.
“There have been some frustrating times so far but now I feel we can really push on now.”
Marshall is 25 per cent of a get-together of four Brits to have come through the GB system in Sheffield.
Campbell, a gold medalist at London 2012, has taken the bold step of getting in with the incredible Lomachenko for the Ukraine superstar’s WBA super, WBC and WBO belts.
Edwards makes the second defence of his WBC world flyweight crown against Mexico’s Julio Cesar Martinez, Cordina defends his British lightweight title against Gavin Gwynne, while Buatsi faces Canada’s Ryan Ford for the WBA International light -heavyweight belt.
