You won’t hear him banging out any backing vocals, but don’t think he couldn’t do it. We certainly won’t dare question his singing credentials.
Tony Jeffries will be in the corner of Robbie Williams in Las Vegas where the Take That legend performs on tour in March.
Sunderland’s famous sporting son, now a personal trainer based in Los Angeles, will be keeping the 45-year-old fighting fit for the opening fortnight of his tour.
Tony tweeted a pic of him and Robbie outside the singer’s private jet, saying: “On the way to Vegas with @RobbieWilliams for the next couple of weeks. He is performing at the Wynn.”
Nice work Mr Jeffries! And Mr Williams for that matter.
On the day when Tony’s fellow Beijing Olympian, James DeGale, announced he was hanging up his gloves after an incredible career, it is worth noting that young Jaffa has not done too badly himself.
DeGale took middleweight gold at the 2008 Olympics, where Tony clinched a bronze medal at light-heavyweight.
As the ‘Mighty Mackem’, Tony was unbeaten as a professional under promoter Frank Maloney and dad, Phil, winning nine times (including three in is home city) and drawing one before retiring because of persistent hand problems.
But as one door closed, another soon opened, in sunny California.
Jeffries, who turns 34 on Saturday, has trained the stars of Hollywood in his Box’N Burn gym in LA, including Robbie, pictured above with Jaffa.
Tony’s Robbie tweet tweet drew a response from UFC Legend Conor McGregor who loves the fact he is featured on a mural on the wall at Box’N Burn. “Very cool Tony, enjoy!” wrote the Irishman on Twitter. “I greatly appreciate the mural you have in your gym @BoxNBurn also! Thank you very much.”
