Happy days as Terence Wilkinson gets set for tear-up with Fonz Alexander

Get ready for a tear-up.

Terence Wilkinson loves a scrap and the fans love to watch him in action. And they now have another treat.

The Geordie will have his fourth professional bout on Friday night in Dunston where he meets the Fonz on Pat Barrett’s Battle on the Tyne show.

Wilkinson take on Alexander Anderson, better known to you and me as Fonz Alexander, over four rounds at the Lancastrian Suite.

The Forest Hall fighter has entertained us royally in his three wins to date.

His debut at the Stadium of Light saw him stroll past Naheem Chaudry, who was more concerned with getting through the rounds than having a fight.

However, his last two contests have been fight of the night candidates, beating Mohamed Mahmoud at Rainton Meadows Arena before outpointing Chris Adaway in an absolute stormer at the Metro Radio Arena on the Lewis Ritson-Francesco Patera undercard.

The Walker wonder had his opponent down in the first but it ended up going the distance, much to the delight of the capacity crowd.

Coach Davy Ritson has been pleased that each of his contests have reached the final bell.

“I don’t want Terry in 30-second jobs,” said the Forest Hall head coach. “I want rounds for him.

“He’s getting better and tidier by the fight and I’m looking to see that continue.

“It’s not going to be an easy one, but Terry’s as fit as a fiddle – he’s putting in the miles on the road every day and working hard in the gym.”

While Fonz’s record is not the best, don’t be lulled into a false sense of security.

The Newark boxer clinched the sixth win of his career just a few weeks back when he filled in previously-unbeaten Jack Newham at Tottenham Green Pools & Fitness.

It would appear a canny battle on the four-bout Black Flash-promoted bill.

Martin Ward has his first date since May when he tackles Barcelona-based Nicaraguan Johnson Tellez over six rounds, while Manchester-based Geordie Dean Laing has his sixth contest against Sheffield’s Chris Dutton.

There is a tasty Manchester derby as KO specialist, Marcus Morrison faces one of the UK’s busiest boxers Darryl Sharp, who has been stopped only once in 47 outings.
