Steve Wraith has added SCS to his growing sport and business empire.
No, he has not bought the sofa and carpet specialist, though don’t rule it out.
The boxing, entertainment and music promoter has signed up S, C, S: Snaith, Cooper and Stavers.
Wraith, who became manager of the brilliant Lawrence Osueke during the summer and will promote Tear Up on Tyneside a week on Saturday with Phil Jeffries, was thrilled with his triple signing.
Billy Snaith needs few introductions, given he has only been away from the ring for 16 months.
There was considerable shock when the Ferryhill star announced he was retiring, having just taken the Northern Area welterweight title from Daniel Cope with an excellent performance at Hardwick Hall.
Unbeaten Snaith started his career with Gus Robinson Developments in Hartlepool before switching to the Fishburn gym of Jeff Saunders.
Now the 30-year-old will box under Pete Shepperson’s in-form DBMA camp in Darlington. He is pictured second left with DBMA team-mates Ellis Corrie, Richard O’Neill and Reece McAllister.
Steve Cooper too is making a welcome return.
The 31-year-old has not boxed since being stopped by Cumbria’s Liam Conroy for the Northern Area light-heavyweight title in Manchester in May 2017.
That was one of three defeats against his name but the Darlington fighter boasts a winning record at 4-3 and he’ll be looking to add to his ‘W’ tally at the East Durham College HQ of David Binns who is enjoying handsome result after handsome result with Glenn Foot, Joe and Tom Hill and Darren Surtees.
And Binns will be training the third Wraith capture, Houghton’s Jay-j Stavers.
With no disrespect to messrs Snaith and Cooper, this is THE exciting bit of business, though it must be pointed out now, it is subject to British Boxing Board of Control approval.
Stavers, just 17, has enjoyed a terrific run as a junior, not just in the Tyne, Tees & Wear ABA, for the Houghton club where he has won three North-East titles, but nationally where he was ranked at two.
Jay-j will be boxing out of the thriving Peterlee gym, not a bad place to be learning your trade.
