Jordan Ellison is on the road again and he’s looking to upset the apple cart.
The Hartlepool and Seaham fighter has arrived in Belfast where he will box on the Carl Frampton and Tyson Fury undercard.
Ellison will take on Marco McCullough over eight rounds at Windsor Park, where Frampton will defend his WBO interim featherweight title against Luke Jackson and Deontay Wilder-bound Tyson Fury will tackle Francesco Pianeta.
It is a big night for Ellison who is back on his travels, having enjoyed a rare home fight last time out when he beat Alec Bazza at Houghton last month, his 10th career victory.
The Gus Robinson Developments doesn’t just like the challenge of being the away fighter, he loves it.
McCullough will start as the clear favourite, having won 19 of his 23 bouts.
The 28-year-old has missed out when he has stepped up to championship standard, losing challenges for the British and Commonwealth belts in the last couple of years, but he is clearly a handful at non-title standard.
Gus Robinson Developments head coach Peter Cope told punch-lines: “It’s the same old story again for Jordan, going away to tackle a home favourite.
“It will be a good fight and great experience, you’ve got to think while Jordan has had a lot of bouts he’s still only 22.
“I watched McCullough in April when we were over when Jordan boxed Davey Joyce.
“Marco is quite aggressive, he comes forward and goes strongly with his right hand.
“There are no soft touches for Jordan, but he knows the score and he relishes the challenge.
“It’s a good show to box on, outdoors at Windsor Park, with a big crowd.
“Jordan is looking forward to it.”
And so he should.
The 22-year-old has been in the away corner 20 times since signing for the Hartlepool team.
And on SEVEN occasions he has beaten the undefeated home fighter and he’ll be looking to add McCullough’s name to his list of successes.
“Jordan is coming into this off the back of a win,” added Cope.
“He’s stayed in the gym and he’s fit.
“Jordan has been in with a lot of good lads and he goes in to win every time. He’ll be giving his best again tomorrow night.”
