You are going to have to get in early, but don’t miss the chance to watch three up-and-coming North-East boxers on the big stage at the Metro Radio Arena.
Of course, five fighters from the region joust for the titles from 7pm, but before then three local fighters kick off the Matchroom show.
Chad Ellis, Darren Reay and Lawrence Osueke have their bouts from 4.30pm onwards so, if you have a ticket, get yourself in to get your money’s worth and support this trio.
If you haven’t got a ticket, it’s not too late.
Ellis will be boxing for the second time as a pro when he takes on the veteran Kevin McCauley.
The Stourbridge journeyman can be a nuisance to any young pro, or older ones as well for that matter, so the 23-year-old from Spenymoor must be on his guard.
Northumberland’s Reay, a decent Northern League footballer, is seeking out his third paid victory when he faces Chichester’s Mwenya Chisanga.
Reay has won both his contests to date, both at the Walker Dome, his most recent being Matchroom’s visit there last sumer for a JD NXTGEN event.
Oseueke is a cruiserweight worth watching as he showed in South Shields just a couple of months back when he outpointed Jevgenijs Andrejevs in impressive fashion.
The great Ricky Burns, taking part in his 50th pro fight, is in action after 6pm over six rounds against Croatia’s Ivan Njegac before the title conveyor is started at 7pm with the English cruiserweight title match between defending champ Arfan Iqbal and Middlesbrough’s Simon Vallily.
Gavin McDonnell v Stuart Hall, Anthony Nelson v Charlie Edwards, Lewis Ritson v Paul Hyland Jnr and Josh Kelly v Kris George follow and throw in Sunderland favourite Glenn Foot (pictured above) against sub opponent Sam Omidi as a floater and it is going to be some night. Are you in?
