Phil Jeffries today announced his annual Stadium of Light spectacular will go ahead on Sunday, July 1.
The promoter told punch-lines that Summer Rumble 8 will be as good as ever.
“Every year I book the Stadium of Light I still have that buzz,” said the Wearside fight figure.
“Things might not be going right on the field for Sunderland and the club are going to have to re-build.
“But what a stadium and what a stage for an afternoon of great boxing.
“There’s no finer sight every July of the stand being packed with boxing fans watching some top fights.”
The Summer Rumble has produced some absolute belters, Glenn Foot-Ennis Akeem Brown, Peter Cope-Gavin Reid, Jonson McClumpha-Andrew Buchanan, Peter Cope-John Green and Martin Ward-Ian Napa, to name just five.
