Tyson Fury says a mega fight with Anthony Joshua will definitely happen and plans to do a ‘Muhammed Ali’ and sting the world champion.
The Gypsy King believes it is inevitable he will regain the world heavyweight title and plans to do it against the man who holds three of the belts he once owned.
Joshua meets Joseph Parker in Cardiff a week on Saturday in a unification battle and Fury is happy because he believes that gives him more to win when, and not if, he takes to the ring with AJ.
“You will see the fight, 100 per cent, unless one of gets run over or something like that!” laughed the 29 year-old who has not fought since 2015.
“I like Joshua, he’s a good lad, a good strong boxer, but he’s no competition for the Gypsy King.
“As the great Muhammed Ali once said I’ll dance around him and sting him like a bee, then I’ll punch his head in.”
It was typical Fury talk, though to be fair after going into Wladimir Klitchko’s backyard and winning the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles, he has deeds to back up his words.
Joshua has won the WBA, IBF and IBO crowns during Fury’s hiatus from the ring, but the Lancashire giant insists he will rejoin the fray, though did not reveal when.
“I’m fit to fight now, I’m very, very fit,” he said. “I’m running 10 to 15 miles every day and sparring 20 rounds four times a week.
“It’s all going very good at the moment. I’m not too sure when I’ll fight but it’ll be this year.”
Fury is backing Joshua at the Principality Stadium and says it’s refreshing to see two champions put their titles on the line in a confrontation screened live on Sky Box Office.
“It’s a good fight for the fans and nice to see a unification match,” he said. “I’m looking forward to it.”
Joshua is a very short priced favourite in the Matchroom-promoted extravaganza, with SkyBet and BetFred having the most ‘generous’ odds of 1-8, with the WBO champ at 5-1. The majority of the bookies have him at either 11-2 or 6-1.
Fury was in Gateshead at the weekend at Steve Wraith’s event at the Lancastrian Suite, Sunday Lunch with Tyson Fury, with the big fella going down a storm.
“I do come up here a lot, I love it in the North-East,” added Fury, pictured above with boxing and entertainment promoter Wraith.
